SSA Global Appoints Chief Information Officer; Carlos E. Galarce to Assimilate and Manage Expanding IT Infrastructure

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- March 31, 2004 -- SSA Global(TM), a leading provider of extended enterprise solutions and services, today announced the appointment of Carlos E. Galarce, as Chief Information Officer reporting to Mike Greenough, president, chairman and CEO.


To address SSA Global's ever-growing IT infrastructure requirements, new CIO Carlos E. Galarce will establish and manage the strategic direction for IT operations. Galarce will ensure successful deployment of employees, processes and technology to integrate worldwide systems to effectively and efficiently serve the company's 3,800 employees, approximately 16,000 customers and an expanding market that is interested in knowing about SSA Global and its solution offerings.

Carlos is a business-savvy CIO with strong operating management experience in building and managing top-performing businesses, with a specialized focus in assimilating systems after acquisitions, said Greenough. His track record of enhancing customer relations and driving IT improvements will be a great asset to SSA Global.

Galarce has had remarkable success in his career, developing and managing IT initiatives for growing companies with global profiles. He brings twenty years of experience and expertise in defining, developing, and delivering IT solutions to meet changing business infrastructure requirements and to support the needs of an expanding internal and external user base. His strategic IT approach will ensure that SSA Global has a technology platform for market-wide communications.

Recently at APAC Customer Services, Galarce led the delivery of the infrastructure and client solutions for outsourced Customer Relationship Management and Call Center services. Previously at Sears Roebuck and Co.'s Home Improvement Services (HIS) and Home Warranty business, Galarce was tasked with performing IT due diligence for acquisition targets. He also developed and instituted strategies to support the integration of acquired companies' best-of-breed systems into Sears' infrastructure and he was successful in integrating acquisition business processes with the existing Sears' operating model.

Galarce has held IT positions at Automatic Data Processing (ADP), Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and General Motors. He received his bachelor's of science and master's of science degrees in computer science from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University, respectively. He has also completed the Executive Development Program at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Galarce has co-authored multiple computer science articles on Artificial Intelligence, Genetic Algorithms and their applications in Relational Databases.
