CyberGuard SG710 Appliance Bridges Gap between SME and Enterprise Network Security Solutions; New Firewall/VPN/IDS Appliance Delivers Enterprise-Class Security and Speed at Mid-Market Price-Point
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 19, 2004 -- CyberGuard (Nasdaq:CGFW), the technology leader in network security, today announced the availability of its SG710 firewall/VPN/IDS device, the newest, fastest and most scalable product in the SG series of network security appliances.
Developed to meet a demand for products that address the specific edge security requirements for large enterprises, the SG710 is also an ideal integrated security appliance solution for mid-market enterprises. Mid-market enterprises with 50 to 1000 employees require high-performance security and networking capabilities that previously were available only to larger enterprises. However, these organizations often find it difficult to justify the capital outlay and additional IT staff available to large businesses.
"The SG710 fulfills our promise to deliver an integrated security appliance to meet the security needs our customers face at the edge of their enterprise networks. It delivers a wide portfolio of security services at a price that is well below the $5000 average price for security appliances serving this segment," said Bryan Bain, vice president of worldwide marketing. "Better still, with the SG710, CyberGuard can now service mid-market enterprises much more effectively with an extremely competitive solution."
CyberGuard's SG710 is the flagship of the SG series of security appliances and is designed to protect the central offices of mid-market enterprises and branch offices of large enterprises. It also enables organizations to secure network connections between remote offices, traveling employees and business partners.
The SG710 is powered by SG embedded Linux and provides multi-layer security including an ICSA-approved stateful inspection firewall, virtual private network (VPN) access (IPsec, L2TP and PPTP) that is VPNC conformant, and an intrusion detection system based on Snort, a popular intrusion detection system.
"As intranet, extranet and e-commerce traffic increases and security threats escalate, many mid-market enterprises are planning to transition their infrastructure, bandwidth and security services," explained Bain. "The SG710 meets their needs today with enterprise-class features and performance with a small-to-medium business price tag."
The SG710 is shipping at an MSRP of $2,499 for the standard model and $3,499 for the SG710+ equipped with Gigabit Ethernet.
