Viewers in the New York metro area now have two new places to turn for quality, non-commercial television programming as New York public television stations Thirteen/WNET New York and WLIW launch a pair of innovative digital channels: Thirteen World and WLIW Create.

World, a channel that will appeal to curious, engaged viewers seeking new ideas and understanding, brings together a wide range of acclaimed public affairs, history, business, culture, science, and nature series, along with documentary miniseries and specials.

Create, a channel that will attract people who take a hands-on approach to life, features a do-it-yourself library of series and special on cooking, renovating, collecting, painting, crafts, traveling, gardening, and more.

Starting today, World and Create are available to subscribers of iO Digital Cable Service from Cablevision. Beginning Friday, October 15, World will be available on cable service from Comcast. Starting Thursday, November 4, World will be available to Time Warner cable subscribers in select areas. Additional cable carriage is expected to be secured in coming months. Both World and Create are also available over-the-air (via antenna) throughout the region to viewers with digital receivers. (See complete tune-in information at the end of this release.)

Both World and Create draw on the substantial programming libraries of Thirteen and WLIW, offering viewers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island a wealth of new series and specials as well as alternative air times for many of the popular programs they enjoy on Thirteen and WLIW's analog channels 13 and 21.

One WORLD, One Channel
