African King Visits Sputnik to Learn about Wi-Fi
SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 25, 2004 -- Sputnik, a leading provider of managed Wi-Fi software and hardware, recently hosted a fact-finding mission from Ghana led by the King of Cape Coast, His Excellency Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II. The mission is investigating how wireless networks can speed the development of Ghana's business, educational, and tourist facilities in Cape Coast.
"The Sputnik team was impressed with the King's vision for using Wi-Fi to support growth in business, education, and tourism in Ghana's Cape Coast area," said David LaDuke, Sputnik president and CEO. "International travelers want good Internet access wherever they go, and Sputnik's experience with both commercial and community-based Wi-Fi networks gives us insight into the questions that arise in when you unwire hotels, university campuses, business parks, and surrounding outdoor venues."
Ghana, known as "The Gateway to Africa," is a peaceful, English-speaking country in West Africa. The Cape Coast region boasts spectacular beaches dotted with scenic forts and castles that draw increasing numbers of international visitors.
His Excellency Osabarimba Atta was accompanied by Rev. Elizabeth McKinney of the Ghana Trade Information Office, which promotes business opportunities in Ghana to U.S.-based companies. Also in the mission were executives from U.S. technology firms 4SureLink Communications, Inc. and Alana Blue.
