Iran Khodro to begin delivering Samand cars to Russia in Jan

(Interfax News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The Iranian auto company Iran Khodro will begin shipping its Samand model cars to Russia in January 2006, Khalim Bilalov, the company's official representative in Russia, told Interfax.


The company will start selling Samand cars through its official dealers in Russia in March. The retail price for one car will start at $10,600, Bilalov said.

Iran Khodro plans to sell at least 3,000 Samand cars in Russia in 2006. "We'll plan the next sales volumes based on the results of 2006," he said.

Samand cars, which are based on the Peugeot 405 model, are certified for sale in Russia, although company specialists continue to improve the car based on the conditions they will face in Russia. tj
