Universite Laval Selects SunGard SCT Technologies

SCT Banner to Help Support Students' Academic Progress


MALVERN, Pa., June 24 2005 — Université Laval, Canada's oldest French-speaking university, will implement the SCT Banner Student administrative system to help improve internal business processes and increase services in support of students' academic progress, it was announced today by SunGard SCT, an operating unit of SunGard (NYSE:SDS). The University also licensed SCT Workflow and EDI*Smart.


"The arrival of SCT Banner offers the perfect opportunity to revise our internal processes so that we become more focused on working together to support our students. The functionalities provided by SCT Banner will help us to provide our students with increased services that will help aid their academic progress," said Christiane Picher, vice president academic affairs at Université Laval.

In addition to the functionality available in SCT Banner, SunGard SCT's implementation approach was an important factor in the University's decision to choose SunGard SCT. "We want the expertise of SunGard SCT, but we also want to become self-sufficient quickly. SCT's emphasis on knowledge transfer supports this goal," added André Armstrong, assistant to executive vice president and project director at Université Laval.

All implementation, training, and consulting will be conducted by SunGard SCT and Ciber of Canada, a leading international system integration consultancy. The University will integrate the SCT Banner Student system to its PeopleSoft Finance System. SunGard SCT supports its Canadian customers through the Canadian Solution Centre located in Toronto. Staff at the center modifies SCT Banner to keep it in compliance with governmental regulations. Other benefits to participating center member institutions, such as Université Laval, include improved efficiency through collaboration, facilitation of the exchange of ideas and procedures among member institutions, and facilitation of shared training opportunities.
