Gansu Introduced Foreign Capital of USD 118.7mn in Forestry

(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)LANZHOU, Mar 10, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --From 2001 to 2005, Gansu, a province in Northwestern China, had introduced a total foreign capital of USD 118.7mn in the forestry, involving 16 foreign-funded projects.

During the tenth Five-year Plan period from 2001 to 2005, the province had witnessed the fastest development in introducing foreign capital.

From 2001 to 2005, Gansu's forestry sector had sent over 400 professionals to study advanced technology abroad, cooperated with nine international financial institutions, non-government organizations and four foreign governments, communicated with more than 20 countries and organizations and invited over 500 experts to give suggestions. The introduction of foreign funds greatly improves the four important ecologic projects and makes a solid foundation for forestry in Gansu.

So far, Gansu Province has succeeded in finishing the desert prevention and treatment projects technically aided by Asia Development Bank, the forest protection and policy research project aided by the Development Programme of UN, and Minshan forest scene protection project aided by World Nature Funds. Manmade forest and effective training have made great progress.
