(AME Info (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Mar. 20--MISSONI HOTEL FOR THE PALM: Rezidor SAS Hospitality has announced that one of the world's first Missoni hotels -- for which the group has a licence agreement with Italian fashion house Missoni -- will be on The Palm, Jumeirah. Hotel Missoni Dubai will have 250 rooms and is scheduled to open in Q4 2008 on the Crescent. It will be designed as a Mediterranean village with a private harbour.


DUBAI CARGO VOLUME UP 16 PERCENT: The volume of cargo handled by the Dubai Cargo Village was up by 16 percent to 106,279 tonnes in February. By early next year the DCV will double its capacity to 2.5m tonnes a year when phase one of its expansion programme is completed, reported Gulf News.

ETIHAD FLYS INTO JAKARTA: Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways made its maiden flight to Jakarta at the end of last week, taking up the former Gulf Air route. The new service is operated by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft and will fly four times a week to the Indonesian capital.

EMIRATES HOLIDAYS, KSA LAUNCH: Emirates Holidays, the largest wholesale tour operator in the Gulf and Middle East, has launched its enhanced version of the innovative TradeNet all-in-one online quotation and booking engine system in Saudi Arabia, with a Kingdom-wide roadshow of seminars and presentations to top travel agents.

AIR ARABIA, NEW A320: Air Arabia yesterday took delivery of its first new Airbus A320, raising its fleet to five. Three more aircraft are on order this year to take the total to eight. The discount carrier based in, and owned by Sharjah has ambitious expansion plans.

EMIRATES TO RAMP UP INDIA FLIGHTS: Emirates Airline will increase its weekly flights to India from 43 to 71 this year, reported Gulf News citing an anonymous official. The airline will start flying to Bangalore on October 29 with the launch of eight flights a week.

DOHA AIRPORT TERMINAL AWARDED: The Qatar Government has awarded Turkish firm TAV Holding and Japan's Taisei an $805m construction contract for the main passenger terminal at the new Doha International Airport, according to a press release from TAV. The new airport is being built reclaimed land.
