Man snatches woman from mountain lodge in Tochigi Pref.+
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)UTSUNOMIYA, Japan, April 30_(Kyodo) _ A knife-wielding man broke into a mountain lodge in Kanuma, Tochigi Prefecture, around midnight Saturday, robbing a couple of about 10,000 yen before tying up the husband and abducting his wife, police said Sunday.
Motoaki Kashiwazaki, 58, and his wife Chiyoko, 56, from Chiba Prefecture, were the only people staying at the cottage on Mt. Yokone. The assailant is believed to have fled with Chiyoko in the couple's car, the police said.
According to the police, the man, who looked around 40 years old and was about 170 centimeters tall, threatened the couple with a knife before robbing them. He then tied up Motoaki and snatched Chiyoko.
The couple's car is missing from a parking area on the road leading to the cottage, according to investigators, who added that Chiyoko had the car keys.
