UOL partners with Videolog to enter online video downloads market
(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Brazilian ISP Universo Online, or UOL, has partnered with Rio de Janeiro-based video downloads company Videolog to expand services to its customers, newspaper Valor Econmico reported.
Videolog will receive monthly investments from UOL as well as a cut of online advertising revenues, according to Marcelo Epperlein, general director of UOL.
The deal reflects trends in the US, where Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) agreed to acquire US consumer media company YouTube for US$1.65bn in October.
Videolog, owned by two young entrepreneurs, has an archive of 190,000 videos and receives 1.5 million hits a month for its 35 million pages.
