Man accused of threatening IRS: Charge could carry year in prison; fine up to $100,000.
(Pueblo Chieftain, The (CO) (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 17--TRINIDAD -- A trucking and earthwork business operator has been accused of allegedly threatening to shoot two Internal Revenue Service officers.
Anthony Blasi, part owner of A. Blasi & Son Trucking & Earthmoving Inc., is accused of interference and intimidation of an IRS employee. The charge, filed Thursday in federal court, could carry one year in prison and a fine up to $100,000.
Blasi, 55, has not been arrested.
According to an affidavit prepared by William Frankel, a special agent with the United States Department of Treasury, Blasi's business has a current unpaid federal business tax liability of $113,683.
Blasi is also the owner of Diamond B. Enterprise, LLC. Both businesses operate at 38043 County Road 32.4. According to the affidavit, Blasi allegedly threatened two unidentified IRS officers during a meeting at Blasi's business on Aug. 8. The officers had an appointment with Blasi to discuss the tax liability of his company.
During the meeting, Blasi became very angry and threatened, on several occasions, to shoot the officers if they didn't leave his property, according to Frankel's affidavit.
Blasi reportedly told one of the officers, "I should have killed you when I first met you."
As the officers were leaving, Blasi allegedly again threatened the officer, "If you show up again, I'll start shooting."
On Monday, the same officer made a telephone call to Blasi. During the conversation, the officer told Blasi that he had to complete the meeting and finish the inventory. He asked Blasi several times if he went to his property was Blasi going to shoot him.
According to the affidavit, Blasi told him, "Yeah, I don't want you around here. Yeah, I told you I don't want you out there until I get an attorney and, yeah, I am liable to shoot you."
The officer told Blasi that he was threatening a federal employee and Blasi allegedly responded, "I don't care; what are they going to do, arrest me?"
