Neos Networks selects Sorrento to increase network capacity
Dec 09, 2008 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) --
Neos Networks, a UK-based telecom network operator, has deployed Sorrento Networks's GigaMux WDM products to increase the capacity of its network.
According to Sorrento, by implementing its platform, Neos can add capacity to its existing wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) infrastructure without interrupting traffic signals. This will give the company the flexibility to build out its optical ring and mesh networks across the UK.
Sorrento's GigaMux 3200 WDM platform enables Neos to deliver high-speed services with reduced capital outlay and fewer management requirements than other optical networking products. A protocol-independent design allows the GigaMux platform to transport and extend the traffic of Sonet/SDH, layer 2/3 ethernet and SAN simultaneously and in their native format. This level of flexibility and control allows Neos Networks to add or upgrade bandwidth incrementally based on traffic requirements.
Jim Nevelle, CEO of Sorrento Networks, said: "Our GigaMux equipment allows operators like Neos to build highly cost-efficient transport networks that allow them to extend their services to the metro core and metro access faster than their competitors."
