(AP Online Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Filing: Polanski does not seek return to USLOS ANGELES (AP) _ Roman Polanski has no plans ever to return to the United States, according to a new legal filing in his campaign to have a long-ago rape case dismissed. His lawyer says in the document filed Tuesday in Los Angeles that Polanski's court battle has a different motivation.


Salsa star Blades donates recordings to HarvardBOSTON (AP) _ Salsa superstar and actor Ruben Blades has agreed to give his personal papers as well as rare recordings of rehearsals and concerts to Harvard University. The university's Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library will receive a complete collection of all the 60-year-old musician's LPs, CDs and liner notes. The archive will eventually grow to include material devoted to his political career, with posters from his failed run for the Panamanian presidency in 1994.

Lil Kim not happy with Biggie biopicNEW YORK (AP) _ Lil Kim was a big part of the Notorious B.I.G.'s life, but she's not happy about the way she's portrayed in the new biopic about the late rapper. The Notorious B.I.G. was Lil Kim's mentor and was also romantically linked to the rapper. Their sometimes rocky relationship is depicted in the new movie "Notorious," but Lil Kim doesn't think it's very accurate.

`Class,' `Bashir' make Oscars' foreign short listLOS ANGELES (AP) _ The top Cannes Film Festival prize winner and a key Golden Globe honoree are among contenders for the foreign-language prize at the Academy Awards. French director Laurent Cantet's "The Class" and Israeli filmmaker Ari Folman's "Waltz With Bashir" are on the academy's short list of nine films that have advanced from a field of 65 eligible titles.

Publicist: Hargitay has partially collapsed lungNEW YORK (AP) _ Mariska Hargitay has a partially collapsed lung, but will appear on all of this season's episodes of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Hargitay's spokesman said Tuesday. Publicist Gary Mantoosh declined to comment further. A statement issued by Wolf Films, the production company of "Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf, said Hargitay's condition is improving.

Publicist: Affleck, Garner name daughter SeraphinaNEW YORK (AP) _ Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's have named their newborn daughter Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck. Affleck's spokesman, Shawn Sachs, confirmed the moniker on Tuesday. Garner gave birth to her second daughter last week.

Howie Mandel leaves hospital, plans return to workTORONTO (AP) _ A publicist for Howie Mandel says he's out of the hospital and plans to return to work Wednesday. Mandel was in Toronto taping his new show "Howie Do It!" when he was taken to the hospital for an irregular heartbeat Monday, said Lewis Kay, publicist for the 53-year-old comedian and game show host. Mandel was conscious and breathing when police officers responded to a report of a man with a medical condition at a downtown hotel Monday evening. Family members went with him to St. Michael's Hospital, police said.

`Prison Break' to wrap after 4 seasonsUNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. (AP) _ It's inescapable: Fox TV is bringing "Prison Break" to an end after four seasons. The network said Tuesday that the drama starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will begin airing its final episodes this spring. The series took a break after its December season debut and will conclude with about a half-dozen episodes starting April 17.

Football leads Fox to prime-time ratings winNEW YORK (AP) _ A week before the return of its own championship contender, "American Idol," Fox took advantage of championship-chasing football teams to earn a ratings crown. An estimated 26.8 million people watched Florida beat Oklahoma last week for college football's championship, according to Nielsen Media Research. The National Football League's Arizona-Carolina playoff game and the Fiesta Bowl's Texas-Ohio State contest were also among last week's most-watched prime-time shows.
