Vietnam to have first locally produced industrial robots by 2010
HANOI, May 22, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
Vietnam will launch made-in-Vietnam
industrial robots into the market by 2010 after several years of
implementing trial projects, the local news paper Youth reported
Friday.
According to Tran Duc Dat, head of the state-owned Science and
Technique Center (STC), the STC will start work on producing
mobile welders, ventilation pile cleaners and robots that can
perform other functions as ordered.
With the expectation of producing over 100 robots annually,
which meet only a small part of the demand for robots in current
domestic industries, it is needed to invest about 1.41 billion
U.S. dollars for a fully equipped factory including quality
control facilities, said Dat.
The center can train adequate human resources but will have to
import several raw materials for production, said Dat.
