Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Braley announced that he has secured $2 million for the Iowa National Guard's Davenport Army Aviation Support Facility in the House FY2010 Military Construction Appropriations Bill. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Military Construction Appropriations bill today by a vote of 415-3.
Specifically, the $2 million will be used to construct a 5,000 square foot addition and an alteration to the existing Army Aviation Support Facility. These modifications will provide needed space for National Guard personnel to train and provide additional space for aircraft maintenance.
"It is essential that we provide our troops with the facilities and equipment they need to serve eastern Iowa and our country," Braley said. "The Iowa National Guard provides the first line of response during times of emergency. I'm proud to secure funding that will modernize facilities and help improve the readiness and training capacities of the Iowa National Guard."
The Military Construction Appropriations bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
