Police: Armed suspects assault, rob man
LEOMINSTER, Nov 21, 2009 (Sentinel and Enterprise - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Police are looking for two armed men who assaulted and robbed a man in the parking lot of Blockbuster Video store on North Main Street in Leominster Thursday evening.
Police responded to HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster at around 8 p.m. Thursday night to speak with the 23-year-old victim, according to Lt. Michael Goldman.
"The victim's face was covered in blood and he had a large bump on his head," Goldman said.
He told police that two men approached him around 7:15 p.m. while he was sitting in his car outside the Blockbuster at 510 North Main St.
One of the men went to the passenger side of the car and smashed the window in with a collapsible baton, Goldman said. The other man went to the driver side of the car and pulled out a semi-automatic handgun.
The men ordered the victim to hand over his wallet, which he did, Goldman said.
The men then asked for the man's car keys, but he was so nervous he couldn't locate them.
The victim was told to get out of the car and take off his pants, Goldman said.
"He was then struck in the head by the man with the baton as he was doing this," Goldman said.
The two suspects were gone when the victim got back up, but his car had not been stolen.
He then called a friend who drove him to the hospital.
The assailants are described as black males, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall.
They are believed to be between the ages of 15 and 17 years
old.
