BLOG: PhillyDeals: "Cyber Monday" sales zoom: GSI [The Philadelphia Inquirer]
(Philadelphia Inquirer (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dec. 2--"Cyber Monday" online sales zoomed "50%" over last year's level at 100 Web sites managed for major retailers by GSI Commerce, King of Prussia, says marketing boss Kelly Henry. That's triple the 17% increase GSI claimed [http://www.philly.com/inquirer/business/20091202_PhillyDeals__Thanksgiving_weekend_Web_sales_increase_over_last_year.html] for sales during the four heavy-shopping days, Thursday through Sunday.
GSI won't say how much merchandise moved through its merchant customers, which include Dick's Sporting Goods and Toys 'R Us. Henry told me GSI expects a total of $2 billion in merchandise volume will pass through its "Web-based transactional technology" for calendar-year 2009.
