Yulong Targets China's Biggest 3G Cellphone Maker

DONGGUAN, Feb 02, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (Yulong Telecommunication) is expected to become the biggest 3G cellphone maker in China, the Chinese cellphone making start-up disclosed in an interview.

The goal is pushed by the company's 3G cellphone production base situated in the southern Chinese city of Dongguan, whose first phase project has been put into production. The Dongguan base is predicted to reach a production capacity of 40 million and become the largest 3G cellphone production base in China, after it becomes operational completely.

The base started production on January 28, 2010, with a total investment of more than CNY 500 million and a land area of 33.333 hectares. It is engaged in making EVDO, TD-SCDMA, and WCDMA cellphones and other components. Its first-phase capacity is 15 million, and the number will be expanded to 40 million in the coming three years.

Yulong Telecommunication is optimistic about the 3G cellphone market, and it is one of the market's biggest beneficiaries, the standing vice president Li Wang said.

The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Wireless Technologies Ltd. (SEHK: 2369).
