ID Insight Publishes 'Fastest 25' Broadband List
Mar 08, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
ID Insight announced the publication of a list of the 25 fastest Internet counties nationwide.
According to a release, Nassau County, New York, tops the list. According to actual speed and carrier data generated by ID Insight's BroadBand ScoutSM database, Nassau County boasts a median download speed of 15.0 megabits per second and a median upload speed of 4.4 megabits per second.
The Fastest 25 list was generated using BroadBand Scout, a national broadband connectivity and usage database. Since it launched in December, BroadBand Scout has been providing similar connectivity, speed and carrier data to communities and broadband carriers applying for funding from the $7.2 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act broadband stimulus program. BroadBand Scout uses an analytical survey process of accessing millions of records in ID Insight's proprietary databases that were initially assembled to track Internet usage activity.
The counties on ID Insight's Fastest 25 list include:
1. Nassau County, N.Y.
2. Kent County, R.I.

"We thought it was vital to create the Fastest 25 list because you can look most anywhere and hear about how much speed is available, but that's not the only point," said ID Insight president Adam Elliott. "It is also critical to understand how much of this available speed is actually being consumed. The Fastest 25 list ranks the counties that have done the hard work to deliver higher speeds, and are embracing the benefits that can be realized by transacting at higher speeds. Their residents are using these services to improve their everyday lives and their business processes. We'd like to congratulate those counties that made our inaugural Fastest 25 list."
