Shock and awe

Mar 15, 2010 (Khaleej Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Looking for more interaction in your videogames? Check out Playstation's newest toy TRUE GAMERS CAN all remember the days of primitive graphics and archaic interaction with their favourite titles, but diehard players can get ready to rejoice.

PlayStation is releasing their newest toy, a motion controller unlike anything on the market. It promises to provide intuitive navigation of in-game characters and objects, allowing players to really feel like they're behind the screen.

Just imagine it: a combination of a motion sensor camera and smart controller that will allow users to intuitively play the game as if they themselves are within it.

It's called the Playstation Move system and blogs are all abuzz regarding its revolution of interactive gaming. The device revolves around a three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer, and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor, as well as a colour-changing sphere that is tracked by a camera. Both fast and subtle motion can be detected, whether the user is swinging a tennis racket or painting with a brush.

Users receive physical feedback from rumble functionality and visual feedback from the sphere's ability to display a variety of different colours. But the coolest feature yet is its ability to capture the player's voice and image, enabling augmented reality experiences.

With so many advancements in the way we play videogames, something tells us we're not in Kansas anymore.
