1. China auctioned 150,000 metric tons (tonnes) of state
reserve sugar on Thursday at an average hammer price of 5,417
yuan/tonne. This is the seventh batch of reserve sugar offered for
auction in 2009/2010.
2. Wheat prices on the global market are unlikely to surge in
the short term over sufficient stocks, said the National Development
and Reform Commission (NDRC), the top economic planner, on Thursday.
3. China is facing good situation in 2010 summer grain
production, said an official of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The planting area, especially of high yielding crops such as
corn has increased. Most of grain-producing regions have sufficient
rain and proper light and temperature conditions, providing the base
for a sound harvest in autumn grain, he added.
