BEIJING, Aug 12, 2010 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- 1. China auctioned 150,000 metric tons (tonnes) of state reserve sugar on Thursday at an average hammer price of 5,417 yuan/tonne. This is the seventh batch of reserve sugar offered for auction in 2009/2010.

2. Wheat prices on the global market are unlikely to surge in the short term over sufficient stocks, said the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the top economic planner, on Thursday.

3. China is facing good situation in 2010 summer grain production, said an official of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The planting area, especially of high yielding crops such as corn has increased. Most of grain-producing regions have sufficient rain and proper light and temperature conditions, providing the base for a sound harvest in autumn grain, he added.
