(AME Info (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 30--AUTOMOTIVE SALES ON THE INCREASE IN SAUDI ARABIA: According to a report by Business Monitor International (BMI), automotive sales in Saudi Arabia are expected to reach over SR69.4bn ($18.5bn) in 2010. Growth in the number of vehicles sold is expected to reach 30 percent from within the next three years. The projected market growth is attributed to increased availability of lending facilities, with car loans expected to account for up to 70 percent of car sales, the report said.
AUDI TO FEATURE ENERGY RECUPERATION IN ALL MIDDLE EAST MODELS: Audi Middle East has announced that all 39 of its available model and engine variants now feature energy recuperation as a standard in the Middle East. The Audi energy recovery system, which uses kinetic energy during deceleration, increases efficiency, particularly in urban traffic and saves up to 3 percent of fuel, depending on the driving cycle.
MAZDA2 ON SALE IN UAE: Galadari Automobiles, the UAE distributors for Mazda cars, has announced the launch of the 2011 Mazda2, marking the brand's entry into the small car segment. The new car is based on Ford's Fiesta and is available in five and four-door models, powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine.
TOYOTA RECALLS 1.33M COROLLA AND MATRIX VEHICLES: Toyota has recalled 1.33 million Corolla sedans and Matrix hatchbacks from model years 2005-2008 in the US and Canada because their engines may stall, Reuters has reported. The auto maker said Corollas and Matrixes equipped with 1ZZ-FE engines may contain a defective engine control module, the computer that regulates engine performance. In some cases, a crack may develop on the module's circuit board, which could prevent the engine from starting or could cause harsh shifting or an engine stall.
