China Telecom to Start Digital Reading Service Soon
BEIJING, Sep 03, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
China Telecom, one of the Big Three telecom operators in the country, is scheduled to roll out the long-brewed digital reading service on September 8.
The service, available for CDMA users throughout the country, will be free this year, disclosed executives for the Beijing-based company, today. CDMA users will have an access to the new service through a variety of terminals such as Internet, WAP, and other clients.
The company has been trying to set up a digital reading base instead of a mobile reading base, according to an executive for the Zhejiang branch of China Telecom. The telecom operator, which is authorized to run the CDMA2000 network in the country, has deployed eight product bases in six provinces and cities across the country.
By the end of 2009, there had been more than 155 million active mobile reading users in the country, according to earlier statistics. The country is expected to see the mobile reading market touch CNY 4.6 billion this year and top a CNY 10 billion mark in 2013.
