Verizon adds capacity in Santa Clarita, California

US wireless communications service provider Verizon Wireless has
upgraded its network in Santa Clarita, California, the company
announced on Thursday.
Now, with these upgrades, more users in Los Angeles county can avail of
high-speed wireless data and voice connections around the Valencia Town
Centre area in Santa Clarita.
The company said that as a result of hundreds of upgrades since
December 2009, it has increased its 3G data and voice capacity by
nearly 25% in Southern California.
In addition, Verizon Wireless will launch its 4G Long Term Evolution
(LTE) wireless network in the fourth quarter of 2010. The company's
plans to launch this network in 25 to 30 markets, covering
approximately 100 million people.
The company said that it expects to cover virtually all its current
nationwide 3G footprint with the 4G network by the end of 2013.
Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications
(NYSE:VZ)( Nasdaq: VZ) and Vodafone (LSE:VOD) (Nasdaq: VOD).
