BRIEF: Fees multiply for air travelers

Airline fees have proliferated over the past two years. Here's a sampling of what some airlines charge for some items beyond basic transportation as of September 2010.
Item, Fee, Comment
Checked baggage, Up to $25 each way for first bag and up to $35 for a second bag
Overweight baggage, Up to $90 each way, Delta Air Lines if weight is 51-70 lbs.
Oversized baggage, Up to $175 each way, Delta Air Lines if bag dimensions exceed 63-80 inches
Carry-on baggage, Up to $45 each way, Spirit Airlines if checked at gate
Change itinerary/cancel: Up to $150
Phone/ airport reservations: Up to $25 on phone and up to $35 in person at the airport
Standby: $50
Early boarding: $10
Unaccompanied minor: Up to $100 each way
Pet travel: Up to $150 each way
Seat selection/ Premium seat: Up to $20 each way
In-flight food/beverage: Up to $9 per cocktail
Pillows/blanket/sleep set: Up to $12
