Verizon expands 3G wireless coverage in Windsor, Massachusetts

Sep 09, 2010 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- US wireless communication service provider Verizon Wireless has expanded its local network in Berkshire county, Massachusetts, the company announced on Wednesday.

The expansion includes a new cell site which reportedly provides increased wireless voice and 3G data coverage along Route 9 in Windsor, as well as the surrounding area.

It also includes expanded 3G data coverage in Windsor, which allows more customers using notebook computers or smartphones to download and use apps, rapidly browse the Web, file share faster, quick download of music, send e-mails with picture and video attachments, download and play 3D games, stream videos and customised radio stations among others.

The company has invested over USD60bn since its inception to increase the wireless voice and data coverage of its national network and to add new 3G services. As a result of this investment, reportedly every cell site in New England provides 3G wireless data connectivity.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) (Nasdaq: VZ) and Vodafone (LSE:VOD) (Nasdaq:VOD).
