Smarter Utility - Blue Line Innovation Partners with Smartenit

Blue Line Innovation has announced the means of getting real time energy information from any electric meter into a home controls network. The company has partnered with Smartenit for this purpose.

By turning almost any electric meter, old or new, into a broadcasting Smart Meter offering whole house energy information, the Blue Line Innovations PowerCost Monitor puts the power to save electricity into the consumer’s hands.

Using the proven ZigBee and INSTEON wireless protocols for maximum flexibility, The Smartenit ZBPCM device allows this whole house energy information to become part of a home controls network, the company stated in a press release.

“This solution is a huge enabler for utilities, service providers and homeowners. While smart meters are being deployed they aren’t openly broadcasting data. The Blue Line optical sensor can get real time data from almost any meter into the home and now in conjunction with Smartenit populate that data into a ZigBee or INSTEON home area network. This really puts the data to work and drives comfort and savings for the homeowner,” said Peter Porteous, CEO of Blue Line Innovations Inc.

To several available and upcoming energy management and home control applications, this solution feeds instantaneous demand (Kw) and consumption (Kw hrs) for the whole house. Based on this information the consumer can customize parameters to allow for automated responses that will save energy.

To give the consumer an even deeper layer of energy management capability, Smartenit also manufactures ZigBee plugs and load controllers that report energy usage.

In related news, Blue Line Innovations and Eragy, a leading provider of award-winning energy management software applications and services, recently announced a strategic partnership for delivering home energy management solutions.

Under the terms of the partnership, Blue Line Innovations and Eragy will be providing a suite of home energy monitoring and control solutions for consumers, energy efficiency professionals, Control4 dealers, and utilities.
